In our third Pub Hub collection, we're going to be talking about the different food and cooking resources BiblioTech offers. Pub Hub is, of course, our new themed reading journey, where we post a curated collection of related material – ebooks, eaudiobooks, movies, music and other content designed specifically to address your needs for information and relaxation during the pandemic on our website each week. Then, we have the opportunity to connect with one another through our Pub Hub Facebook group and share reactions to the week’s material, as well as thoughts and suggestions about coping with COVID-19.
As we continue to Stay At Home/Work Safe, food seems to take up a larger and larger place in our days. Lucky, there are many different BiblioTech resources, as well as community resources, to help you enjoy some delicious treats and healthy eats.
We always like to talk about the many ebooks and eaudiobooks on our cloudLibrary app, because that is our largest collection of popular books. The Cooking section is full of cookbooks, from classics like The Joy of Cooking to brand-new releases like The Pioneer Woman Cooks: The New Frontier. There is also The Art of Escapism Cooking, which seems very on point right now, and interesting reads about food, such as Burn the Ice: The American Culinary Revolution and its End.
Using our RBdigital app, you can check out an unlimited number of food and cooking magazines. The current issue Clean Eating is literally called "The Easy Issue" and features an article called "Skip the Recipe" that can help you make delicious meals from whatever is available in your kitchen right now. You can also check out Cook's Illustrated, the Food Network Magazine and so many other interesting reads.
Interested in learning new cooking techniques via video? Look no farther than The Great Courses, where we have a whole section on Food & Drink. You can Master Outdoor Cooking, learn how to Make Healthy Food Taste Great or check out the Every Day Guide to Wine.
Hoopla has books about cooking, such as The Fire on High, an amazing young adult book about a budding cook in Philadelphia, plus an amazing collection of cookbooks for both adults and children. Also, don't miss out on our cooking curation on BiblioBoard. From Healthy Eating to Cooking with Kids, these indie cookbooks have great recipes and are always available, with no check out limit!
When we're talking about food, we don't want to forget all the amazing restaurants around San Antonio working hard to make carry out and delivery food available! The San Antonio Current recently published an article about the most interesting foods you can get delivered right now, as well as a searchable directory of San Antonio restaurants offering to go options. The Rivard Report has a list of locally-owned restaurants offering delivery, take out and, in some cases, groceries.
