Article Date
April 20, 2020

It's National Parks Week and, even though we're all diligently staying home and staying safe, we can still celebrate the National Parks and the natural beauty all around us this spring! Our Pub Hub collection this week will focus on wonders of nature. Join us on Facebook to talk about the resources below, or the ways you're celebrating spring this year.

The National Parks Service is celebrating National Parks Week from April 18-26, and they note "Parks across the country will host a variety of special programs and events with a focus on digital experiences in 2020." To live up to that idea, they have a great list of 20 Virtual Ideas for 2020, which include games and challenges, as well as a Find Your Park quiz. For Earth Day, on April 22, the parks will host all kinds of live events you can participate in, from sunrise viewings to online trivia. Want to know more about the National Parks? Check out some of the live webcams they have available or take the Wonders of the National Parks: A Geology of North America course on The Great Courses with your BiblioTech card!

You can also access other great resources about nature with your BiblioTech Public Library card:

You can also still enjoy yourself outside! Just be sure to follow the social distancing guidelines. All the parks in San Antonio are open, although playgrounds and basketball courts are closed, and you can still use any walking paths. Take a bike ride around your neighborhood, or check out the 15 mile long San Antonio Riverwalk--the Mission Reach is particularly beautiful right now. Our city has almost 70 miles of linear greenway trails. Check them out.

And don't forget to come socialize with us, digitally, on Facebook
