January is a great time to pick up a new hobby. It's actually National Hobby Month! BiblioTech Public Library has some amazing resources to help you learn to do something new. It doesn't have to be a new year's resolution -- it can just be something new and fun to do, by yourself or with friends, in 2021. Let's take a look at some of our resources that offer information about fun new hobbies.

First, check out cloudLibrary, our largest collection of popular ebooks and audiobooks. We've put together a special collection for National Hobby Month, with books ranging from So You Want to Start a Podcast to The Arts and Crafts Garden. Browse them all today on the cloudLibrary app or website.

Then, on Hoopla, we have even more hobby-related books and audiobooks. Check out a book on knitting, crocheting or cross stitch, or learn about candle-making and whittling. We also have a hobby month movie collection. You can download all of these resources to your phone or tablet with our Hoopla app.

Looking for more directed learning? Check out Universal Class, where you can enroll in crafts and hobby courses ranging from Western Calligraphy to Cake Decorating or Aromatherapy. There are also courses on Italian Cooking and Landscaping. And, when you enroll in the online courses, you'll get personalized feedback on assignments from the expert leading the course!

Want a more technical hobby, like learning a coding language? Sign up for Treehouse, where you can learn Javascript or Front End Web Development, plus much more.

Also, don't miss out on our magazine collection on Flipster. Here you can check out titles like Astronomy to learn about the stars, or Digital Photographer to up your photo game. There is also a Flipster app, so you can download the magazines to your device.

As a teaser for even more hobby-learning, later this month we'll role out virtual programming, which will cover topics from learning origami to gardening. Check back here on the BiblioTech Blog for more, or sign up for our newsletter! You can also follow us on FacebookTwitter or Instagram. We'd love to hear from you!
