On October 12 we will be participating in an exciting, family-friendly, nationwide celebration of authors and writing at BiblioTech! Indie Author Day promotes indie authors and the resources the library has to support the indie author community. Check out the many other celebrations being held throughout the state and country.
Locally, we will have our celebration at BiblioTech South from 1 to 4pm. Closer to one of our other branches? No worries. We will be streaming the authors for digital celebrations at both BiblioTech East and West.
Everything will kick-off at 1pm, when the crafting will get under way. We will have blackout poetry, luchador mask-making and opening line story crafting. There will also be refreshments available.
At 2pm, San Antonio author Xavier Garza will join us for a very special storytime. He will also be signing book copies for anyone who is interested. Garza writes award-winning and well-loved bilingual children's books with a lucha libre theme. We look forward to hearing him read some of his stories!
Next up in the author line-up will be another San Antonian, Ben Amor. He plans to soon follow up his debut book, The Urban Shepard: Chasing the American Dream, with another book about his journey to America.
Janet Sutherland-Madden rounds out our special guest authors, and she will be joining us via digital video feed. She will be talking about her book Nose over Toes, and about her recovery after a brain aneurysm.
We'd love if it you register on our event page to let us know you're coming, but it's certainly not required. All are welcome.
If you are a writer looking for library resources, please be sure to check out our Writer's Corner page. We have online learning, as well as ways to publish your book online, free of cost. Bibliotech Public Library, for the curious!
